Campground Review: Flying Flags RV Resort and Campground

Typical site
Why we chose here? Our main destination was the San Luis Obispo area. As this was our first day on the road we didn't want to travel all the way from Orange County to SLO in a day, so this was a convenient stop over for us. As it was a weekend, public campgrounds spots were harder to find. This campground has lots of spots, so getting a Friday and Saturday night was easy. It is much more expensive than we would normally pay, but given our late planning, and limited spots in SoCal at this time of year we stumped up the cash for the weekend.

Location: Right off the freeway, great location for exploring the wineries in the region. Solvang is closeby and worth a visit. Buellton has some nice spots to visit, we found a great brewery and restaurant within walking distance from the RV park.

Sites: Pull through paved site. The sites are close together, this is why I generally don't like RV parks.

Facilities: They have a pool and hot tub which we didn't use. They have a well stocked general store, including lots of local wines, and very friendly staff. They have a good laundry room.

Groceries:  We stocked up before we came.  There are some supermarkets in Solvang.

Reservations: Yes through their website. Summer weekends are busy and reservations are recommended.

Cell Coverage / WiFi: WiFi was usable for browsing.

Price Paid: $75 E-W-S-C

Date of visit: June 2014

Other:  Best thing about this park is that they have a lot of vintage Airstreams available to rent. They will let you tour them if they are not occupied. They have a nice central patio area with firepit. They also have outdoor movie nights on summer weekends. We watched The Lego Movie! Everything is Awesome.   Very cool!

Would we come here again? As a stopover yes.  We don't like hanging around in places where the RVs are packed in so tightly so a night or two is all we would do.
