Campground Review: KOA Salt Lake City,Utah

Why we chose here?  We wanted to explore the city and wanted the freedeom to be able to leave the truck behind.  While RV parks are not really our thing, the proximity to downtown SLC and the good reviews we read of this park made our decision.

Location: This is not the nicest part of town, but it is not terrible either, just a little run down and skanky. Not dangerous in my mind as some reviews have stated. The advantage is that it is very close to downtown.  We walked to Temple Square from here and there is also a great light rail system that you can ride to the city too.  As a base to explore the city the location is excellent.

Sites: Usual RV Park setting.  Nice trees, a bit of grass between each site.
Facilities: Laundry, pool, hot tub, small store, Mexican restaurant and car/RV wash on site.

Groceries: Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are in SLC

Reservations: Yes

Cell Coverage / WiFi: As you would expect from a city location, no problems with coverage here.

Price Paid: $53 E-W-S-C

Date of visit: Sept 2014

Other:  Despite its convenient location, we didn't like this park as much as other reviewers have. Mostly because there were a lot of long-timers here, and honestly some people who I did not really want as neighbors. I don't like to pass judgement on anyone, as life is tough and everyone has problems, but I felt there was a tension here with some people who were living on the edge.

Would we come here again?  Probably not. It was convenient for the city and allowed us to spend some quality time there. But next time we would probably stay outside and if I wanted to visit SLC again we would just visit for the day
