Why we chose here? We knew we were going to be in Austin for a few weeks. This park is in a natural setting, but is also pretty close to the city.
Location: Perfect location, just 15 minutes form the city center (depending on traffic), but out in nature. There are some nice hikes in the park and the falls are quite scenic. There are deer, armadillo and pretty birds in the park.
Sites: 84 sites. The sites are McKinney are some of the biggest we have seen. Very private, with picnic tables, fire rings and lantern holders.
Facilities: Warm showers and restrooms. Dump station on site. Small store at entrance.
Groceries: As expected there is no problem getting fabulous food here. ustin is the birthplace of Whole Foods, and home to the best Whole Foods ever! Also there are Sprouts and Trader Joe's locations in the city.
Reservations: Yes. The weekend is busy at this time of year, we couldn't reserve them on short notice, but did manage to secure a spot by being on the waiting list on site.
Cell Coverage / WiFi: Yes AT&T and Verizon have good coverage here.
Price Paid: $20 (Bought Texas State Park Pass to avoid entrance fees) E-W

Other: Like all Texas state parks, drinking alcohol outside is against the rules. I hate this Nanny approach, as I like a beer sitting by the fire. We didn't see the rule enforced, but I don't like having to hide my drink like a naughty schoolchild.
Would we come here again? Definitely. This is the place to stay when in the Austin area.
