Boondocking spot: Clark Dry Lake Bed, Anza Borrego Desert.
Why we chose here? We knew we wanted to spend sometime in the desert and when we saw that several of the people whose blogs or Instagram we followed were going to be there,we couldn't resist joining them
Location: This is open desert about 8 miles from the small town of Borrego Springs. There are some pretty hikes here, and the place is massive, you can walk for miles without reaching anything. The Salton Sea and the cute town of Julian (a.k.a the Pie place) are within 25 miles drive. Approx GPS Co-ordinates: 33.316184, -116.260284
Sites: Just a big old desert!!
Facilities: Nada. You can get water in town, and there is a dump and water fill at Anza Borrego Desert State Park,Palm Campground. It's $8 to dump and fill.
Groceries: A small store in town Central Market, which has an ok selection of produce and quality food. The farmers market on Friday is small. You can buy Citrus for pretty much free at the side of the road. For everything else, bring it with you.
Reservations: Nope
Cell Coverage / WiFi: With a booster we could get decent Verizon and AT&T,the speed was patchy and I think in the winter the towers just get overloaded.
Price Paid: Free
Date of visit: Jan 2015
Would we come here again? Yes definitely. A great winter hang out.
