Campground Review: Sand Hollow State Park, Westside CG, Hurricane Utah

Site 28
Why we chose here? We had to be back in Las Vegas for a flight at the beginning of May so had a couple of weeks to stay in the area. We don't love Nevada and the scenery is much more appealing in Utah so we headed north for some red rocks and cool hiking.

Location: This State Park is around 8 miles from Hurricane, Utah and a little further from St George. Zion National Park is about 30 to 40 minutes away. The park is on a small lake which you can use for boating.

Sites: All sites have table, shade canopy, BBQ and fire-ring. Lots of sites are pull through. All the sites in the west campground have water, electric and sewer hookup.  There is a dry campground on the other side of the lake.  The sites are all spacious, if you want better views, go for the upper loop.  We had site 28 and I think it was the best view int he park.

Facilities: There are restrooms and showers. There is trash and recycling (except glass but the nearby Walmart has glass recycling). There is a small store and snack bar at the boat ramp on the other side of the lake.

Groceries: Hurricane has a Lin's Market which was not bad. St George has supermarkets. None of our faves though, a Smith's, Albertsons.

Reservations: Yes. We booked a day or 2 before we arrived and had no problem getting a spot.

Cell Coverage / WiFi: Verizon and AT&T both solid here with no need to boost signal.

Price Paid:  $28 a night for water, electric, sewer.

Date of visit: April 2015

Other:  This park is impeccable. They keep it so clean there was not a cobweb or ring pull in sight.  The views from our site were phenomenal.  Lakes, sunsets, red mountains. Just beautiful.

Would we come here again? Definitely yes.
