View from our site #26 |
Location: This campground is in a great location. On the South East corner of Lake Tahoe, Nevada Beach is beautiful. There is a Safeway store just a short walk away, and the towns of Stateline and South Lake Tahoe are 10 minutes drive away. There are hiking / biking trails from the campground. You can walk straight onto the beach from some sites.
Sites: All sites have a table, fire-pit and bear-proof food storage locker. There are no hook ups here. Most of the sites are very shaded, but a few are more open. I think sites, 20, 22, 24 and 26 are the best. They all have excellent lake views. Both 24 and 26 are in a shorter more secluded loop away from the main campground so are much quieter with more space than most others.
Facilities: Limited here. There are restrooms, and potable water spigots dispersed throughout the campground. There are also multiple trash and recycling bins conveniently located. However, there are no showers and no dump station. There is a dump station at Zephyr Cove Resort a few miles down the road available to anyone for a $10 fee.
Groceries: Safeway is near here. South Lake Tahoe also has a natural food store.
Reservations: Yes. Unusually for a National Forest Service location, this is a very busy campground. It was full the whole time we were there in earky June; considered a shoulder season for Lake Tahoe. We tried to add an extra night at the end of our stay on the Sunday to no avail.
Cell Coverage / WiFi: Good for both Verizon and AT&T
Price Paid: $36 for dry
Date of visit: June 2015
Would we come here again? Yes.
