Campground Review: Pipeline Campground, American Falls, ID

Why we chose here? We were making some ground between Lake Tahoe and Jackson Wyoming. We don't like to drive more than about 200 miles a day, so this was a convenient place, just a few miles from the freeway.

Location: This free BLM campground is just one mile from the 86 freeway between Twin Falls and Idaho Falls. It is on a beautiful wide stretch of the Snake River. There is a small boat ramp and few small fishing jetties.  It is very scenic and the birds are beautiful.

Sites: The sites are of mixed quality.  Some are nicely flat and level, other are deeply rutted and sloped.  There is a picnic table, fire ring at each site.

Facilities: This is a pack in pack out campground with no water.  There are no facilities other than a vault toilet.

Groceries: We didn't explore anywhere nearby, but I am pretty sure there are no grocery stores nearby.

Reservations: No

Cell Coverage / WiFi: Good for both Verizon and AT&T

Price Paid: Free.

Date of visit: June 2015

Other:  This is not a destination campground, but we found it to be a lovely spot to rest our head for an evening.
