Campground Review: Diamond Lake RV Park, Diamond Lake OR

Why we chose here?  We knew we wanted to visit Crater Lake, but were warned the campgrounds in the park were a little small. (Having checked the NP campground out when we were there I don't think we would have had any problem getting in.)  Diamond Lake is not too far from the park and has a much wider choice of campgrounds.

Location: Diamond Lake is very convenient for Crater Lake. The North Entrance is 13 miles away. Diamond Lake itself is very pretty, and has a great bike trail all the way around it. There is a pizza place just a short walk from the RV park that also serves local craft beer and fills growlers. There is also a resort with a restaurant a few miles up the road.  This is a remote area. There is tons of scenery and great hiking etc, but no stores or good restaurants, stock up before you come.

Sites: These are some of the roomiest sites we have seen at an RV park. We were in the loop at the back of the park which has more of a campground feel than the sites at the front.

Facilities: Showers were great. Nice hot water with good pressure. Laundry room which was ok, and they have a decent DVD library.

Groceries: Shop before you come. No decent food outlets anywhere close to here or Crater Lake. You can get milk or eggs, but I barely saw a vegetable or any food that wasn't processed up the ying yang anywhere close to here.

Reservations: Yes

Cell Coverage / WiFi: The whole Crater Lake area is a Cell Coverage blackspot. No AT&T or Verizon for the whole week we were there. The park had slow WiFi.

Price Paid: $32.15

Date of visit: August 2014

Other:  The staff here were great. Super friendly. The owner helped us back our trailer into the spot. He was amazing I wish I could fold him up, put him in the truck and pull him out at every back up.

Would we come here again? Diamond Lake would definitely be my choice for visiting the Crater Lake area, but we would choose the USFS campground that is actually on the lake next time.
