Why we chose here: We had heard that this part of the coast was very scenic and we wanted to hike along to the famous lighthouse.
Location: The campground is close to the town of Sequim. The sites are on a bluff above the water and trees shield the view.
Sites: Half of the sites are First Come First Served, the other loop is reservable. The sites are spacious and well separated. The sites are all dry. They have a firepit and picnic table. Most of the sites are shaded, only a couple are suitable for solar. We had to move after 5 nights as we couldn't get our batteries charged with the tree cover.
Facilities: There are restrooms and showers. There is a small trail system. There is a dump station on site.
Groceries: Sequim has the wonderful Sunny Farms grocery store as well as a Safeway, and Port Angeles has a great grocery store on the main street called Country Aire.
Reservations: Yes for one loop, FCFS for the other. During the week there were plenty of empty sites.
Cell Coverage / WiFi: We had good signal with both AT&T and Verizon.
Price Paid: $ 23 for a dry site
Date of visit: August 2015
Other: The big attraction here is the Dungeness spit and lighthouse. It is a wonderful and challenging walk along the beach to reach the beautiful lighthouse. Check the tide tables though it is much harder going at high tide.
Would we come here again? Yes
