Campground Review: Windsor Wine Country RV Park, Windsor, California

Why we chose here: We wanted to visit some friends who live in the North SF Bay Area and we had booked our Airstream to have some work done at Vinnies North Bay Airstream Repair. So we looked for a convenient place that could accomplish those goals.

General: The park is old and not in great shape. There are a lot of full-time residents and old rigs that look like this is their final resting place. Staff were super friendly but generally the vibe of the place is low-rent. While we were there the park had a bomb scare and a visit from the police to sort out a dispute between residents, and a month or two ago a couple of trailers burned down in the park. It's a shame because this is a fantastic location and the area is badly in need of a decent RV campground or park.

Location: The location of the park is excellent. A short drive to Sebastopol, Healdsburg and all the wonderful wineries in the Russian River Valley, and even the Sonoma Coast is not too far away. The town of Windsor is nice, and you can walk to the pretty town green from the park.

Sites:  Really cramped in here. They just need to get rid of half of the spaces really. They are parked at all angles and rigs being stored are mixed in with those being lived in.

Facilities: There is a laundry, pool, showers. We didn't use any of them. There is a dump station on site. They also pump out your tanks with a honey wagon included in the price of your site.

Groceries: Oliver's Market in Windsor is very close and is fantastic. As well as an abundance of fabulous fresh food there is a tavern on site serving a good selection of craft beer and wines.

Reservations: Yes.

Cell coverage / WiFi: Yes good coverage from Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.  We did not try their WiFi

Price paid: $31 - Water & Electric (Good Sam Discount)

Date of visit: July 2016

Would we come here again? No. It's such a shame that they don't invest in the place more and reduce some of the sites. The location is just where we would want to be and there are very few choices around here.
